Facelift
Day of Surgery
- Notify office immediately if sudden increase in
swelling is observed or sudden increase in pain.
Week One
Hair & Scalp Care:
- After your one-day post-operative visit, begin
shampooing your hair with your regular shampoo/conditioner
one (1) time per day. Lightly rub with the pads of your
fingertips to remove any crusts. Continue this routine
until your one-week post-operative visit.

To dry your hair, use a hand-held dryer on the cool
setting.
Week Two
- Color treatments and/or perms may be done as early as
3 weeks after surgery.
- Do not initiate the use of makeup without our
direction.
Special Considerations
- If you wear eyeglasses, please ask us to demonstrate a
special way to wear them in order to avoid pressure on the
incisions.
- There may be thinning of the hair in areas adjacent to
the suture lines. This can sometimes be avoided by
closely adhering to the instructions about shampooing and
cleansing the suture lines. The thinning can also be a
reaction of the hair follicles to bruising, and is usually
temporary. It may take several weeks or months to return.
- Be very careful when pulling clothing over your head
to prevent injury to your earlobes. There are extra
stitches in your earlobes to hold them in place while
healing. They will be removed at 2 weeks.
